What is Portable Appliance Testing?

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT), officially known as the ‘Inspection and Testing of In-Service Electrical Equipment,’ was introduced to assist businesses and organisations in adhering to the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

To comply with these regulations, it is essential to implement a programme of routine inspections and electrical safety testing for portable appliances.

Additional legislation relevant to electrical maintenance includes the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.

Our Services

We offer an efficient and cost-effective solution to help businesses and organisations comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations.
Appliance Testing

Each appliance is thoroughly tested to meet the rigorous standards of the IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. Using the latest computerised PAT testing equipment, we can test all portable appliances within your organisation, including IT equipment, microwaves, and 415V & 110V power tools. Our inspections and tests are conducted by fully qualified engineers with City and Guilds 2377 certification.

Minimal Disruption

Testing requires the disconnection of electrical equipment from the mains supply, which can be inconvenient, especially in busy office settings. To minimise disruption, we offer out-of-hours service at no additional cost.

Simple faults, such as issues with plugs or fuses, are repaired on the spot during the inspection.
